The new line has the capacity of coating approximately 600 kilometers of pipe per year. The launch of new unit expands the range of protective coating application services offered by ArcelorMittal Aktau. The mill has already facilities for the application of external single-layer epoxy coating and triple-layer polyethylene coating, as well as internal epoxy coating.
Pipes with these types of coating are widely used, primarily in the construction of trunk and field oil and gas pipelines, as well as at petrochemical facilities.
Coating pipe with DBFE at Aktau Pipe Mill will significantly increase the local content in Kazakh oil and gas projects. In addition, the new production line will cut costs for oil and gas companies, which previously had to import coated pipe products. They were often damaged in transit and needed repair as soon as they were delivered.
The new coating line at the Aktau Pipe Mill is unique because until recently there were no facilities of this type for oil& gas industry in Kazakhstan.
